We are looking forward to having fun and raising funds with you at the downtown Raleigh’s City Club! Whether this is your first time attending or you’ve been a frequent gala guest, we want to ensure you have the information you need for a wonderful evening.

Q: Why does the Me Fine Foundation host a gala?

A: As part of any good organizational story, the staff and Board of Directors of Me Fine did all they could to help build awareness for families whose children were undergoing treatment for life-threatening medical conditions. In order to provide vital financial assistance for those families, Me Fine had to raise money. What started off as a “Purse Auction” thanks to the in-kind support of local celebrities morphed into a nearly 400-person event featuring a silent and live auction, incredible food and drink, dancing, and mingling. Historically, Me Fine’s gala has provided nearly 30% of our annual operating revenues, which has a HUGE impact on our ability to assist families in our partner hospitals.

Q: What should I expect at the 2018 gala?

This year’s theme is New Orleans Masquerade: a mixture of masks and Mardi Gras as we take you down a mysterious journey in the Big Easy.

Q: Do I have to wear or bring a mask?

A: You are more than welcome to bring a masquerade mask to complement your outfit and get in the spirit, but it is not required. We will have masks available at City Club!

Q: What should I wear to the gala?

A: Most attendees elect to dress more formally, along the lines of longer dresses or skirts; tuxedos or suits and ties. But, don’t let outfit stress prevent you from attending. If you’re feeling inspired by color, we encourage you to add some gold, purple, or teal to your ensemble to bring the New Orleans theme to life!

Q: What should I expect to eat at the gala?

A: This year’s food menu is mouth-watering and includes many New Orleans/Southern classics. We’ll be sharing a full menu soon, but know that you’ll have about nine different food stations to choose from throughout the evening. Our menu will include vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-sensitive options (because of shared fryers with gluten, the City Club cannot guarantee absolutely gluten free). Q: What should I expect for the evening?

Registration begins at 7:00pm sharp in the downstairs lobby of the Wells Fargo building. Once you check-in and get your photo taken, the elevators will whisk you up to the 28th floor where you will be greeted by the party. The City Club has two accessible levels. On the bottom level, you will find multiple bars, the silent auction, a tarot card reader, multiple food stations, the sounds of Boom Unit Brass Band, and more surprises to come. Upstairs, you will be able to snag a photo in the photo booth and feast on some delicious desserts. Our program, featuring the keynote speaker and live auction, will take place in the upstairs ballroom starting at 9:00pm.

Q: What sort of items will be included in the live auction?

A: Our live auction, handled by the fantastic Duke and Bird, features exclusive experiences that will make you the envy of all of your friends (or, at least those that you don’t bring with you!)

In order to maintain the integrity and quality of our live auction, we limit the number of items to between six and eight. That means that if you want to win something special, you will need to get your paddle ready for frequent raising! And, if you feel any hesitation, remember: this is a night dedicated to raising critical funds to help families pay their bills and access emotional support while their child is hospitalized in our community. 

Q: What is this trip raffle all about?

A: Consider this as close to taking a vacation to the destination of your choice that we can offer! Each $100 ticket gives you a chance to be the lucky winner in a raffle. The winner will get to choose from five pre-selected trips (which you can read about here). That’s it! No strings attached. For $100 (or for $500 for six tickets if you take advantage of that deal), you can leave the 2018 Me Fine gala with your next getaway. What would you choose?
