Hope for the Holidays

Hope for the Holidays 2017

Make a difference this holiday season with Me Fine Foundation! With your help, we can bring hope to critically-ill children and their families at Duke and UNC Children’s Hospitals.

#1 – Adopt a Family

Just as Me Fine provides a financial safety net for families in crisis throughout the year, our Hope for the Holidays program serves families who are in the midst of a new diagnosis, relapse, or unexpected hospitalization during the holiday season. The Me Fine Dream Team adopts families who would not otherwise have Christmas gifts due to a child’s treatment for critical illness.

We call our holiday supporters the “Dream Team” because of their willingness to be on call for a family experiencing a sudden medical crisis. Families are referred to Me Fine by hospital staff beginning the week of Thanksgiving, and we accept referrals up to the week before Christmas.

We need your help to fill the wish list of a family in crisis between now and Christmas.

How to get involved:

Step 1: Gather any number of people – family members, friends, coworkers, church groups.

Step 2:  SIGN UP HERE  and choose a budget that fits your group financially. Let us know if you have any timeline restrictions as well.

Step 3: Between now and Christmas, Me Fine staff will match you to a family and send you a wish list for each child in the home. We also request a gift card on behalf of parents as a special surprise.

Step 4: Go shopping! Unwrapped gifts can be dropped off at Me Fine partner locations throughout the Triangle until Monday, December 11.

Families are referred to us on a rolling basis as hospitals receive new admissions or learn of crisis situations. Me Fine is the only nonprofit ready to respond to these last-minute needs — but don’t worry, you’ll still have time to shop! Our goal is to give you at least a week to fill the wish list, and Me Fine staff are ready to lend a hand if you need it.

#2 – Angel Trees

Angel Tree Partners display a collection of hanging tags throughout the holiday season. Each tag corresponds to a child or parent’s request. These requests range from dolls and cars to art supplies, baby toys, and board games — even gas cards to help offset the costs of travel to and from the hospital.  Coworkers and customers alike may choose one or more tags to shop for, and return the unwrapped gift to that location by Monday, December 11.

SIGN UP HERE to host an Angel Tree at your place of business.

Angel Trees will be on display at local businesses across the Triangle and surrounding areas from Nov 1 – Dec 11. Please stop by one of the locations below and grab a tag to help our families!
