Me Fine Gala – 2018

Thank you to everyone who made Me Fine’s 2018 Gala such a wild success!

Because of you, we will be able to finish out 2018 providing more financial assistance and more emotional and psychosocial support programs for more families than ever before! 2018 Keynote: Dr. Benny Joyner

We are thrilled to announce that our 2018 Gala keynote speaker: Benny Joyner, Jr., MD, MPH, FCCM. Dr. Joyner serves as the Division Chief of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and the Clinical Director of the Clinical Skills and Patient Simulation Center at the NC Children’s Hospital located on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  

A former high school teacher, his passion is (and has always been) the well-being and education of children, locally and abroad.  Dr. Joyner has committed his career to caring for critically ill children at the PICU at the NC Children’s hospital as well as educating students, residents, fellows and families about the challenges faced by children who are critically ill.  A patient safety advocate, he has authored numerous articles and book chapters on the importance of interprofessional teamwork and communication. In addition, he serves several committees of the American Heart Association, the Society of Critical Care Medicine and Society for Simulation in Healthcare.

A Tar Heel Basketball fan and avid comic book reader, he currently calls Durham home where he lives with his wife, Rebecca, three kids (Stella, Nora and Nate) and two dogs (Fudge and Freya).
